CHICAGO, IL - The progressive voter guide Girl, I Guess has endorsed environmental attorney Sarah Bury for Metropolitan Water Reclamation District (MWRD) Commissioner, calling her the better, more qualified alternative in the race.
In its 2026 primary voter guide, Girl, I Guess highlighted Bury’s extensive background in environmental policy, water quality oversight, and public accountability, writing that she is “ the better, more qualified alternative” to serve on the MWRD Board and emphasizing her record of hands-on experience in water infrastructure and environmental protection.
Bury brings both professional expertise and lived experience to the race. Raised in a working-class family that moved throughout Cook County, she saw firsthand the impacts of flooding and inadequate infrastructure in communities across the suburbs, South Side, Northwest Side, and Far North Side.
She holds a master’s degree in environmental politics and has served as:
Water Issue Specialist for the League of Women Voters of Illinois
Water Quality Fellow at the Alliance for the Great Lakes
Volunteer watchdog with the Sierra Club’s Water Team
Secretary of the Loyola Park Advisory Council
The voter guide also noted Bury’s background as a seasoned political organizer and her leadership in running field operations for the Bring Chicago Home ballot initiative.
“I’m honored to earn the endorsement of Girl, I Guess,” Bury said. “MWRD decisions impact flooding, clean water, and climate resilience across Cook County. Voters deserve commissioners with real expertise in environmental policy and public accountability.”
The endorsement adds to growing momentum behind Bury’s campaign as early voting is underway for the March 17 Democratic primary.
