CHICAGO, IL — 40th Ward Alderman Andre Vasquez has endorsed Sarah Bury for Commissioner of the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District (MWRD), highlighting her professional expertise in water policy and her commitment to improving the water infrastructure in the face of climate change.
“There is a diligence and expertise that is needed in order to keep our water clean, equitable, and to improve our systems given the impacts of climate change and the federal government undermining any progress that has been made,” said Vazquez. “Sarah Bury has those qualities in abundance! I trust Sarah Bury because I have seen her tenacity and focus firsthand. Our neighbors will be well served by Sarah, but she needs your support to be our next Commissioner of the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District!”
“I’m honored to earn the support of Andre Vasquez,” Bury said. “Andre is one of Chicago’s most progressive leaders, and endorsement is a powerful affirmation of this campaign’s values — and that I will provide the kind of leadership we need to protect our water and our future.”
Bury, an environmental advocate and attorney, is running to strengthen environmental stewardship, address home and street flooding, and advance accountable, community-focused governance at the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District.
The Metropolitan Water Reclamation District oversees wastewater treatment, stormwater management, and regional water quality protections serving millions of Cook County residents.
Early voting is now open for the March 17th Democratic primary.
