About Sarah
Sarah Bury is an attorney, environmental advocate, and lifelong Cook County resident who knows what it means to wake up to a flooded basement. A graduate of Whitney Young High School, she holds a master’s degree in Global Environmental Politics and brings over a decade of experience in water and climate justice. She’s worked with the Environmental Protection Agency, Department of Justice, and Alliance for the Great Lakes — and organized with local groups like the League of Women Voters and the Sierra Club. She’s ready to bring public service, legal skill, and grassroots organizing to the MWRD Board.​​​

How to Vote for Sarah

The Democratic Primary election is on March 17th, 2026.
​
Three 6-year seats and one 2-year seat (due to an unfinished term from a previous Commissioner) on the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District (MWRD) Board of Commissioners are up for election this year. Sarah is running for one of the three 6-year terms.

Voters can select up to three candidates for the 6-year term. Top three candidates with the most votes win. Early Voting starts on February 5th!
