CHICAGO, IL — 43rd Ward Committeeman Lucy Moog has endorsed Sarah Bury for Metropolitan Water Reclamation District (MWRD) Commissioner, citing her organizing leadership and serious, policy-driven approach to governance.
“Sarah has demonstrated a serious, policy-driven approach to her campaign, with a focus on transparency, accountability, and effective governance,” Moog said. “She understands how to build networks of leaders and volunteers to create real change, and she brings that same commitment to the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District.”
Moog and Bury first met during Operation Swing State, where Bury managed volunteer canvassers from across Cook County reaching out to voters in Michigan and Wisconsin during the 2024 presidential election. Through that work, Bury built relationships with leaders and volunteers committed to strengthening communities and improving people’s lives through grassroots organizing.
The endorsement highlights Bury’s combination of hands-on organizing experience and deep policy knowledge in environmental and water governance. Throughout her campaign, Bury has emphasized the importance of transparent decision-making, strong oversight, and community engagement in addressing flooding, water quality, and climate resilience across Cook County.
“I’m honored to earn the support of Lucy Moog,” Bury said. “The MWRD impacts every neighborhood in Cook County. We need leadership that values transparency, accountability, and collaboration.”
The Metropolitan Water Reclamation District oversees wastewater treatment, stormwater management, and regional water quality protections serving millions of Cook County residents.
Early voting is now open for the March 17th Democratic primary.
