CHICAGO, IL — The campaign of Sarah Bury for Metropolitan Water Reclamation District (MWRD) Commissioner has announced the endorsement of 48th Ward Neighbors for Justice, a progressive Independent Political Organization representing residents of Edgewater, Andersonville, Uptown, and surrounding North Side communities.

“Sarah is an attorney and environmentalist with a long track record of supporting initiatives that help our area mitigate and adapt to climate change,” said 48th Ward Neighbors for Justice in announcing the endorsement. “As an expert in her field, our members trust her to use her position on the MWRD to advocate for sustainable initiatives that benefit every ZIP code in the metro area.”

“I’m honored to earn the endorsement of 48th Ward Neighbors for Justice,” said Sarah Bury. “Their members understand that water policy is climate policy, public health policy, and equity policy. I share their commitment to building public institutions that listen to residents, partner with communities, and deliver real solutions as climate impacts intensify.”

Bury is an environmental advocate, attorney, and lifelong Chicagoan running for MWRD Commissioner to strengthen environmental stewardship, expand green infrastructure, address flooding, and advance transparent, community-centered governance at the District. She will appear on the March 17, 2026 Democratic Primary ballot as a candidate for a six-year term.
